Uganda police summon journalists over LRA Campaign

The Ugandan police has summoned three journalists of the independent Daily Monitor to answer questions over a story about the national army’s campaign against rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Department of Media Crimes under Senior Superindentent of Police Charles Katarambi on New Year’s Eve summoned Daniel Kalinaki, Grace Matsiko and Angelo Izama to appear before it on January 2nd. Police summons on Friday is a common practice the police uses to jail citizens over the weekend until the courts are open the next week. According to the summons the police is investigating if the article in question was ” prejudicial to security”.
